Supporting Students in Emergency

If an international student is involved in an emergency situation, campus or local authorities will notify the NCCU Student Safety Center, the Office of International Cooperation, and their department/program. NCCU faculty staff will make their best efforts to provide direct support to these individuals where appropriate.

The Erictex Emergency Relief Fund for International Students

The National Chengchi University hereby provides financial assistance to international students who may face sudden hardships during their studies at NCCU. 

The relief fund is applicable under the following circumstances:

  1. Emergency Consolation Fund: For international degree students and international exchange students at NCCU.
  2. Emergency Assistance Fund: For international degree students at NCCU.

Emergency Consolation Fund

NCCU students may apply for emergency consolation fund under the following circumstances:

  1. In the event of a death, a relief fund of up to NT$10,000 will be disbursed to the family of the deceased.
  2. If the family of the enrolled student encounters a severe family crisis, a relief fund of up to NT$3,000 will be disbursed to the student 
  3. Enrolled students who are seriously injured or seriously ill and require medical treatment are eligible for a relief fund of up to NT$3,000.

Emergency Assistance Fund

NCCU may apply for emergency assistance fund under the following circumstances:

  1. Enrolled students who suffer from an accidental injury or serious illness, or pass away, and whose family is in dire need for financial assistance, are eligible for relief funding of up to NT$50,000 to be disbursed to the student’s family.
  2. If a severe crisis affecting the student’s family or home country results in the student being unable to afford the cost of studying and living in Taiwan, relief funding of up to NT$50,000 will be disbursed to the student.
  3. Those in urgent need of assistance in other emergencies may receive relief funding in excess of NT$5,000 but no more than NT$50,000.

Application

To apply for the relief fund, please read the implementation measure and submit the application form (both provided below) along with the relevant supporting documents. Once the application is co-signed by a counselor from the Student Safety Service Center or the designated student advisor, as well as the department chair/program director/graduate institute director, kindly proceed to submit the application to the OIC.

Applications for emergency relief funds are limited to one occurrence for the same student and incident, and the total amount disbursed must not exceed NT$60,000. Students applying for the emergency relief fund must submit their application within three months from the date of the occurrence.
