Regardless of your background or prior high school experiences, the courses at NCCU can be at a whole new level of difficulty. Successful students tap into a variety of resources, with tutoring frequently playing a crucial role in elevating one's skills. If you find yourself in need of assistance, rest assured that you're not alone! NCCU offers the following free tutoring resources, and there are no additional fees required.
CTLD Tutoring (offered through the Center for Teaching and Learning Development)
CTLD offers one-on-one appointment tutoring for specific classes upon application by NCCU undergraduate level degree students. It is free of charge for 12 hours and covers one subject each semester.
Eligibility: Undergraduate level degree students (including international students)
Available courses: CTLD will strive to match you with a student tutor based on the course for which you are seeking tutoring. In principle, freshmen or sophomore taking required courses across majors such as Economics, Statistics, and Calculus are more likely to find a tutor. Don't worry if you are not very fluent in using Chinese, as English-speaking tutors may also be available.
Free hours: 12 hours for one subject per semester. Extensions beyond 12 hours are possible at the expense of students. The CTLD leaves the decision regarding extensions, including expenses, to the discretion of students and tutors.
Application time: Typically available from two weeks before the semester begins until the first week after it starts each semester. Late applications will not be accepted. We encourage you to submit your applications as early as possible.
How to apply: If you are seeking assistance for a specific course, email Ms. Kuo (ctldlpd@nccu.edu.tw). Another option is to contact your department office, where they can assist you with your application. Meanwhile, your department may be able to direct you to other resources. Your application email should include the following:
