OIC Mandarin Course
1. Who can attend?
All courses are available to international exchange students who choose the “Intensive Mandarin / Part-time Mandarin + Academic” module. International exchange students of nationalities of China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan are not eligible.
2. How to enroll?
Intensive:
OIC will add this course for you, so you don’t need to select it on your own.
Part-time:
Complete the OIC application questionnaire prior to the application deadline. Late applications will not be accepted. This course will not be available for selection during phase 3 (online add/drop) or phase 4 (manual add/drop)

Elective: This course is only available to international exchange students whose Chinese proficiency is above TOCFL L3 or HSK 5, or higher. OIC will add this course for you, so you don’t need to select it on your own.
3. When to attend?
Intensive: The class time is from Monday to Thursday 13:10~16:00. However, sometimes we may hold some activities on Friday afternoon as well, we strongly recommend you not to choose any other academic courses during this time.

The class time of the online courses might be adjusted according to the lecturer and the time zone of students’ city/country.
4. What can I learn?
The course covers listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. During the semester, teachers will lead students to join outdoor activities or cultural events, please get ready to enjoy the beauty of Taiwan!
5. How to know my Chinese proficiency?
OIC will send you personal accounts and passwords via this email to log onto the online placement test (listening & reading) system. Then you should show up at the first class to take the oral test with our lecturers. You will be arranged to the suitable level according to your grades from the above tests.
Old students do not need to take both tests. You will be arranged to one level higher in the next semester.
6. How many credits can I earn in one semester?
Intensive: This course will be counted as 12 NCCU credits in total. Your attendance hours affect your grades. Please see the chart below:

Part-time: This course will be counted as 3 NCCU credits. If you are absent for more than 9 hours, you will receive a zero for the course
Elective: Each course will be counted as 3 NCCU credits. If you are absent for more than 9 hours, you will receive a zero for the course
Students are advised to confirm with their home universities for credit transfer.
20-minute late or early leave will be counted as one absence hour. If you are sick or encounter any accidents, please submit an official Certificate of Diagnosis issued by the public hospital to your teacher as proof.
