Library

First established in 1959, the NCCU library has expanded tremendously over the past sixty years to emerge as one of Taiwan’s largest and most complete university collections, encompassing two dedicated library buildings, three department-specific branches, and three affiliated research centers, fully integrated through a comprehensive information technology network to serve the learning and research needs of the NCCU community.

NCCU Main Library

Located in the NCCU lower campus, the five-story Zhongzheng Library, named in honor of former ROC President Chiang Kai-shek, was established in 1977 and is the largest university library in Taiwan dedicated to the Humanities and Social Sciences. Dah-Hsian Seetoo Library

Named in honor of Dah-Hsian "William" Seetoo, an Emeritus Professor in the NCCU College of Commerce, this eight-story library was opened in 2020 and is located on Wanshou Road, just outside of NCCU's lower campus. In addition to exclusive bibliographic collections, this library also hosts various multimedia facilities, such as maker spaces and virtual reality technology, to stimulate learning and creativity. NCCU Branch Libraries

The NCCU library also has three branches:

  1. The Communication Library was established in 1962 and is now located on the third floor of the College of Communications on NCCU's upper campus.
  2. The Commerce Library was established in 1997 and is located on the fourth floor of the College of Commerce building on NCCU's lower campus.
  3. The Social Sciences Library was established in 2001 and is located on the first and second floors of the General Building in NCCU's lower campus. It houses the materials in the fields of Social Sciences, Law, and International Affairs.

Affiliated Research Centers

Certain NCCU research centers also host their own collections:

  1. NCCU Institute of International Relations.  Founded in 1953 as the Association for International Relations, the institute was integrated into NCCU in 1996. Located on Wanshou Road just outside of NCCU’s lower campus, the institute’s research activities focus on American and European Studies, Asia-Pacific Studies, China Politics, and Chinese Social and Economic Studies. 
  2. NCCU Social Sciences Information Center.  Established in 1961 to develop social science collections, the center is located next to the College of Education on NCCU's lower campus.
  3. NCCU Center for Public and Business Administration Education. Established in 1962 to provide executive training for management personnel in government institutions, along with public and private enterprises, promoting Taiwan’s development as a knowledge-based, high-value economy. The Center is located on Jinhua Street in Taipei’s Da’an District.
