MOFA Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship

Purpose

The "Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship" is a scholarship program established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (hereinafter, MOFA) to foster academic cooperation and exchange between Taiwanese and European universities. The program sponsors and encourages European students to learn Mandarin and Taiwanese cultures in Taiwan, enhance bilateral academic and cultural exchanges, and support Taiwan "Bilingual 2030 plan".

Eligibility

Students must meet all the following criteria to be nominated for the scholarship:

  1. Be of a European nationality (including the United Kingdom);
  2. Be nominated as a university-level exchange student from NCCU's partner universities in one of the following countries:
    Albania, Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, and the United Kingdom.
  3. Be enrolled in an Intensive Mandarin Course (weighing 12 NCCU credits); and
  4. Be willing to participate in cultural exchange activities to fulfill at least nine (9) hours service learning during the scholarship period.

In addition, students who fall under any of the following criteria are not eligible for the scholarship:

  1. Students who possess an overseas Chinese student's status, or hold a passport of Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, or the People's Republic of China.
  2. Students who are concurrently receiving other scholarship from the Taiwanese government or university scholarships or subsidies (including living expenses waivers).
  3. Students who have previously received a Taiwan-Europe Connectivity Scholarship.

Scholarship Amount and Quota

The scholarship amount is NT$ 20,000 per student per month for 4-5 months regardless of the exchange period.

The exact quota for each country may vary based on the number of applicants and the overall budget of the fiscal year as designated by the MOFA.

Application

The scholarship application process is integrated into the university-level exchange program application period. After the application process, the OIC will notify eligible students via email regarding their scholarship nomination and forward the necessary information to the MOFA for final review. The MOFA reserves the right to select the final scholarship recipients and will issue the official scholarship award certificate to the selected scholarship recipients.
