FAQ for Ministry of Education Common Scholarship

1.    When is the application date?

A: Application for this scholarship are accepted twice every year in late September and late February. The actual application dates shall be published by OIC.

2.    What is the amount of Common Scholarship?

A: The amount and number of the scholarship shall be determined by the amount and number of scholarships offered by the Ministry of Education.

3.    If I am an undergraduate student, how can I apply the Common Scholarship?

A: Eligibility:

  • Undergraduate students who have completed one semester of study and are currently enrolled at the University.
  • Must be enrolled and have completed a minimum of eight credits in the previous semester.
  • Applicants must achieve an average result of above seventy five points in the previous semester and have not been convicted of major violations.


4.    If I am a graduate student, how can I apply the Common Scholarship?

A: Eligibility:

  • Graduate students who have completed one semester of study and are currently enrolled at the University.
  • Must be enrolled and have completed a minimum of four credits in the previous semester.
  • Applicants must achieve an average result of above eighty points in the previous semester and have not been convicted of major violations.


5.    If I am a graduate student writing my thesis, can I apply?

A: Yes. Graduate students with this situation may apply within the designated period with the letter of recommendation from guiding professor and a thesis writing plan. The thesis-writing plan shall include the research motive and objective, research structure and design, data collection methods and sources, thesis outline, reference books and more. Persons with this condition are allowed to submit applications only two times.

6.    What documents should I prepare for a complete application?

A: The applicant shall provide the following documents to OIC for review:

  • A copy of scholarship application form.
  • A copy of official transcript in Chinese.
  • At least one letter of recommendation from professor.
  • A copy of research and study plan.
  • Certificate of volunteering service that helps with the internationalization of the University and the communities.
  • Other certificates: eg. Extra-curricular activity certificate, competition award certificate, thesis presentation and others.(Optional).


7.    When do I receive the Scholarship?

A: The scholarship fund will be deposited into the designated bank account of the scholarship recipient in November (for fall semester) or April (spring semester).
