Situated in northern part of Taiwan, Taipei City belongs to the subtropical region where you can find all kinds of different weathers (sometimes within a day!). The average annual temperature is 23.6 °C (74.5 °F), with a summer average of 29.4 °C (84.9 °F) and a winter average of 11 °C (52 °F).

Spring, from February to April, is the season with the most pleasant and comfortable temperature and humidity. Summer usually starts in May, and hot weather can last until late October. However, typhoons and rainstorms during this period can cool down the hot weather. Temperature descends after mid October, and temperature difference could be huge between day and night. After that starts the rather short winter. The weather in winter, accompanied by drizzle, is comparatively mild. However, affected by cold air mass from Mainland China, temperature can plump dramatically sometimes.

NCCU is at the fringe of the basin in which Taipei city is located. That means the weather at NCCU is affected by the mountains and hill surrounded it. Weathers can be quite different with the weather in downtown Taipei. Unpredictable orographic rain is common. Always remember to bring an umbrella with you. Also, subtropical Taipei may sometimes be gloomy and cold in winter. Indoors might be warmer, but keep in mind that most buildings in Taiwan do not have heaters, so make sure to wear the proper outfit.
