Notes 1. Waiver will be cancelled if recipients are awarded with the following scholarships: Taiwan Scholarship, full scholarship offered by other government institutions, tuition waiver offered by NCCU or other non-NCCU entities.
2. Recipients are allowed to choose from receiving either this scholarship or NCCU New International Student Scholarship, should they have gotten award notice from both scholarships.
3. Recipients are not eligible to receive the NCCU Academic Excellence Scholarship for International Students during the offered period of this scholarship.
4. Graduate students should have achieved academic grade of 80 or above in the previous semester in order to receive the tuition waiver for the following semester.
5. Undergraduate students should have achieved academic grade of 75 or above in the previous semester in order to receive the tuition waiver for the following semester.
6. Scholarship will be cancelled if recipients apply for a deferment, suspension, or get expelled from enrolled programs.

Application Timetable & Eligibility

1. Applications for this Scholarship are accepted during admission. Applicants should be recommended for consideration by the department, institute, or program in which they are admitted.
2. Eligibility: Newly admitted international Bachelor, Master, PhD students who are not awarded with other scholarship.

Note

1. International students receiving this scholarship shall not receive full scholarships issued by non-NCCU entities, NCCU New International Student Scholarships, NCCU Academic Excellence Scholarship for International Students, or other tuition waivers issued by NCCU or non-NCCU entities.

2. Awards shall be rescinded for recipients who fall within any of the following circumstances during study or upon graduation:

  • For students at the graduate level, the average academic score is below 80 points.
  • For students at the undergraduate level, the average academic score is below 75 points.
  • Students who apply for leave of absence or deferred enrollment or get expelled.

2. Tuition waiver for recipients who enrolled at departments other than IMBA and MBA
3. For recipients who enrolled at IMBA and MBA, the cap on tuition waiver is NT$40,000 per semester.   If the tuition exceeds NT$40,000, the remainder of all costs shall be paid by the recipients.
4. According to the letter of request of IMAS approved on March 17, 2020, the tuition of MOE Taiwan Scholarship students enrolled at IMAS will be covered by MOE and IMAS from spring 2020 semester.

Scholarship Elite Scholarship Program

Scholarship Quota by Country To be announced and regulated by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Award Coverage & Duration 1. Scholarship coverage:
(1) Tuition Waiver
(2) Monthly Stipend: Depends on funding availability
2. The award period for this scholarship amounts to 2 years for Master’s programs, and 3 years for PhD and Doctoral degrees. The maximum duration of 3 years of sponsorship through this program is not to be exceeded. Thus, a student who has previously acquired a two-years Master’s degree under the Elite Scholarship Program would only be eligible to receive another year of financial support for his/her PhD degree.

Eligibility Requirements and Restrictions 1. Scholarship applicants shall currently occupy a formal lecturer position at a public or private college or university in Southeast or South Asia. Nationals of the Republic of China and overseas Chinese citizens are not eligible.
2. Every Elite Scholarship applicant should submit the following two documents with application documents for admission before the deadline of submission by post or in person. 
(1) Proof of employment in the aforementioned position
(2) Scholarship Application Form
Illegibility Candidates who meet one of the following conditions are disqualified from the scholarship application process:
1. Individuals are not eligible to apply in case they are currently enrolled in a college or university in Taiwan, or are presently deferring their studies in such an educational institution. Excluded from this regulation are recent or soon-to-be graduates from Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, who are applying for a higher degree.
2. Candidates that intend to enroll in a program at the same level of degree that he/she has already acquired at an educational institution in Taiwan previously.  
3. Current exchange students or students with a double (joint) degree through an academic cooperation between a foreign educational institution and a college or university in Taiwan are not permitted to apply.
4. Applicants are not allowed to receive any other scholarship funds or subsidies from a governmental agency or institution of the Republic of China during their studies.
